How To Make The Most of Your Time at This Year’s PR Club & PRSA Boston Winter Sparkle

PR Club and PRSA Boston are joining forces to host this year’s Winter Sparkle. For students and professionals alike, this is more than just a networking event; it’s an opportunity to connect and exchange new ideas to start 2026 off strong!

Below are a few tips to maximize your time on January 13:

Make a Game Plan
Before you walk through the door, take some time to think through what you’d like to accomplish – are you attending to explore new job opportunities? Meet like-minded peers? Better understand a facet of the industry? Whatever the reason, think through a mental agenda beforehand to focus your time on what’s most important for YOU.

Work the Room
Held at Eastern Standard in Fenway, the setting breaks the mold of a traditional conference atmosphere. Use that to your advantage: stepping away from formal networking means you can connect in a more personal way. Arrive early, grab a drink, and strike up a conversation with someone near the bar or at a communal table.

Swap Cards (or Codes)!
While business cards may seem like a relic of the past, they can be a very helpful tool for introducing yourself and, more importantly, staying in touch.

Don’t have business cards? No worries. Presenting a QR code that sends new connections right to your LinkedIn profile can be a nice way to connect in real time (If you didn’t already know, you’re able to do this right in the LinkedIn mobile app by clicking the search bar at the top of the home screen and tapping the QR code icon on the top right corner).

Pro tip: follow up with your new connections afterward, and invite them for a virtual or in-person coffee to stay in touch.

How to Shine
Don’t forget, your resume tells your story on paper, but a strong introduction brings it to life. Practice a 30-second handshake introduction: who you are, what you do, and why you’re attending the Winter Sparkle. A full room can sometimes feel intimidating, especially if you don’t see any familiar faces at first, but confidence and authenticity go a long way. Step outside your comfort zone, introduce yourself to one or two new people, and let your personality shine.

With a little preparation and follow-through, Winter Sparkle becomes more than just a networking event — it becomes a strategic part of your year ahead.

Don’t forget to buy your ticket! We look forward to seeing you on January 13 and seeing your network grow.
