Briefly summarize your background. What kind of industry/clients do you work with?
A 30-year strategic communications and public relations veteran in the B2B/B2C, tech and higher ed/non-profit arenas, I’ve worked in-house, with agencies and in a freelance capacity managing and executing on-message traditional internal/external communications programs and content. A Boston College alum and dynamic community advocate with superior interpersonal skills, I’m also a published copy writer, journalist and children’s ebook author with adjunct faculty experience at Boston University and Merrimack College.
Describe what you do for PR Club. I am on the membership committee and am always pushing for more student involvement!Fortunate to be a PR Club member for many years and a Board Member for the past 5, with a specific focus on the Bell Ringer Awards and contributing content.
Name your top three favorite things about PR. Corporate storytelling, serving the C-suite as a publicist, developing mutually beneficial relationships with colleages/clients/journalists/etc.
Do you have a childhood moment when everyone knew you’d be a communications specialist?
I’ve always been a people person, but thought that would lead to a career in Human Resource Management. After graduating in the mid 90s and working for an entrepreneur who gave me the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the business, I naturally gravitated toward PR and Marketing Communications…and have staying in it ever since.
