A Day in The Life: Andrea Coville, CEO, Brodeur Partners
Welcome to “A Day in The Life,” where members of PR Club’s Board of Directors interview some of the most interesting, multi-faceted, and innovative change-makers moving and shaking up the PR and communications industry!
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Andrea Coville, long-time CEO, to tell me a little bit about a day in the life as CEO of integrated communications agency, Brodeur Partners:
Thanks for chatting with me, Andrea! How does your typical day begin?
I wake up early and do “email catch up” with coffee in hand. Morning is also a great time for me to do check-in phone calls. In the summertime, I’ll sit outside to do both! My favorite time to work out is in the morning, so I’ll go to the gym, play an hour of tennis or walk our dogs.
How do you go about planning and structuring your day/work week?
I calendar my week over the weekend, but knowing everything will change by Monday night, I constantly reprioritize. The key is to always make some time for those actions that create the greatest value. It’s so easy to push thinking time off.
Okay, so your day begins outside (if possible) with email, phone calls, and a fun workout, how does it end?
I am generally on email until it’s Netflix time or I want to read – if it’s nice out, I will head outside again for a walk to shift gears.
As the CEO of Brodeur Partners for 37 years and counting – what has been your biggest learning in this role?
Being a CEO is never, ever boring. I’d say that my biggest learning is to not to worry about change and to keep my focus on clients and employees. Never forget, we are all human.
What is one piece of advice you’d share with other PR and communications professionals?
Everything you do leads to something new. Don’t fear failure.
That’s great advice! And for the ultimate media relations closer question, anything else you’d like to share?
It’s important for PR professionals to “trust the process” and try to enjoy the relationships you build along the way.
